A Spa-Inn Asheville

Here's what our guests have to say. . .

This was by far the best anniversary ever! The bed is 5 star! And don't even get me started on the food. You really put a lot of consideration into every visit. I especially loved all of the little details everywhere. This was like staying at a friend's house.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

As I prepare to leave, I contemplate my stay here and I ask myself

the question that you always ask after taking a trip: Would I come back?

Sometimes the answer is no, sometimes maybe. The answer in this case:

Most definitely! My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Thank you so much for your hospitality. It was a wonderful experience.

E. & S.

Thank you so much for designing and running such a relaxing B&B Spa.

I know we have never relaxed like this before. The breakfasts were delicious

and beautifully arranged. The massages were the best ever and this house

is soooo comfy. Thank you, thank you.

We absolutely loved everything about this place! It's fabulously decorated.

The breakfasts were delicious. The porch and gardens were relaxing and

beautiful. The spa/massage technicians did superior jobs. But most

importantly the Innkeepers made us feel like we were honored guest!

Thank you for making our annual getaway as awesome as it could

possibly be!

From the moment we stepped foot in ASIA we immediately felt completely

at ease and as though we'd been transported into another world! This house

is over-the-top-incredible and we have had the BEST time in the Marrakech

Express. Thank you so much for making our first wedding anniversary a

memorable, relaxing, wonderful experience. We will definitely be back again

and will spread the word!!!

A last minute thought turned into a brilliant idea! Your Inn is a step into

total relaxation. Every detail welcomes you to enjoy such peace and

leave with a refreshed spirit. The restaurants were perfect - Heiwa

and Rezas get real cheers. Thank you for all you talents to put

together such a wonderful combination - there is beauty here inside

and out.

Asheville and ASIA! A slice of heaven and a wonderful way to celebrate

our 35 years of marriage and begin our next 35! The Innkeepers were

wonderful and make our visit so enjoyable on a personal level. We

should return just to visit you both. To anyone reading this, be sure

to use the sauna and steam rooms! And don't miss the massages and

facials. This Inn was selected because of its uniqueness and Asian

influences. We were not disappointed. We have traveled extensively

and rank ASIA as one of the top B&B's. . . a destination in itself.

Thank you so much!

The room is very beautiful and the gardens are very peaceful. The food

and service were outstanding. Thank you for accommodating our special

To our new friends: (this is coming from a person who never really

relaxes) our visit was beyond our expectations. Your attention to details

and warmth made this a most perfect getaway. Your recommendations

were perfect! Our room was perfect! we will be frequent guests and

we will tell all of our friends what a wonderful place this is. See you

in June!

J. & R.

Our time here was short but sweet. Everything was most perfect. I was

looking for a relaxing, romantic place to take my man for his birthday.

I found it. The massage, the tub, the sauna, the Paris Room. . . .

who could ask for more! Even down to your choice of a firm or soft

pillow. We loved that! We are blessed to add such a wonderful

memory to our scrapbook of life! Thank you! We will be back.

G. & T.

Churchill, Tennessee

We came up here with high expectations, a need to relax, and a want

to be pampered. We were gratified with all three. The massages and

treatments were to die for. The breakfasts were out of this world and

our room was one of the most beautiful and relaxing we've ever been in.

And the staff topped everything off with just the right amount of

attention. Thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend

possible. We will be back with friends.

"A Far East Fantasy" by Katherine Stefan, editor of Charlotte Taste Magazine

...What would you think if I told you that you could visit Japan, the Dutch East Indies in Indonesia,  Marrakech, Thailand and Bombay without the long flight and absence of bathing necessities? What if you could throw in spa amenities and world class dinning, all for less that a song with a little more than a week's thought to make your travel plans? "What's the catch", you say? All you need is a little imagination and a credit card.

...If an escape to the Far East without the headaches of international travel and a weekend of pampering entices you, then we'll be glad to share one of Asheville's best kept new little secrets we've recently discovered with you - A Spa-Inn Asheville (ASIA).

Now Carol Ann is in the business of providing comfort and pleasure in a peaceful - ok, Zen-like - interpretation of Asia. From the moment you journey to her web site (and this is a very cool U.S. Airways video to click through). you'll have a sense of place in your our mind's eye that transports you instantly to Japan. The weekend we went, the leisurely two hour drive to this Blue Ridge mountain town was over before we knew it as we stood at the base of this almost in-town property off Merrimon Avenue. The steep driveway up to the parking lot took us past a Japanese Garden on par with that created in Golden gate park itself - incredibly evolved for only being designed and planted a few years prior. The Arts and Crafts style home sat perfectly perched atop the hill to this lovely estate,  surrounded on all four sides by lush plantings, sitting areas, and even a Zen garden that served as entrance to the small on property spa. There was a strong sense for both of us of being in another world, but also coming home.

Each of the five rooms is themed - and not in a tacky sort of way like some of the kitschier bed and breakfasts can get. We stayed in the Have room (for those ill-versed in international geography as I, Java is a volcanic island of Indonesia and the site of capital city Jakarta, and was once the center of powerful Hindu Kingdoms). The translation was elegant and whimsical at the same time, with all of the creature comforts of Western Civilization woven in - a lavish king size bed adorned in Organic natural material, a collection of silk throw pillows and a gorgeous Indonesian headboard, kilim rug hangings on the walls and Indonesian island artifacts as well as a fireplace and double Jacuzzi bath. The toilets are Kohler brand but specifically made to flush when the lid is down to encourage respect of the Feng Shui believe that open toilets drain all our our financial wealth and must be kept closed.

The property's five other suites - The marrakech Express, Silk Route and two Western themed rooms (to accommodate the whims and moods of every guest), the Appalachian Trail and the ultra elegant Paris Flea Market - follow suit in fantasy-meets-comfort amenities and decor.  Rooms are stocked with not-your-average spa robes (we debated over which was His and Hers), and the property is filled with secluded nooks and crannies that make you feel perfectly at home lounging around in our outside your robe all weekend...

Carol Ann has retained the services of exceptional Asheville massage therapists and a staff esthetician and uses the most incredible line of organic food based Hungarian facial and cosmetics products called Eminence (hard to find but you can buy the here!).  All facials are customized to your skin type based on the esthetician's training and product knowledge. The massage rooms are housed in a separate out-building next to the Zen garden along with a dry sauna, and the Inn has a private steam room for guest use.

Breakfast is served daily in an informal buffet style, where guests use custom designed bamboo trays to take their meal wherever they please ...A leisurely weekend sprinkled with naps, green tea, reading, meditation, exercise, massages and facials.

We both returned to Charlotte jet lag free, not overly indulged in the gastronomic delights, after experiencing a taste of the other side of midnight. Next time you have a hankering to get the heck out of dodge, give the folks at A Spa-Inn Asheville a call, clear your schedule and prepare to clear your mind after a weekend immersion in peace. Namaste!
